February 2025

Welcome to the New Empowerment Today Newsletter!

We’re thrilled to introduce the updated Empowerment Today for a Stronger Tomorrow! With a fresh new look, an improved format, and even more engaging content, we’re confident there’s something here for everyone.

But the newsletter isn’t the only thing that’s new at YWCA Northeast Indiana. We’re settling into our new home—a bigger space with exciting opportunities to better serve our community. While the move has taken a bit longer than we anticipated, we’re focused on ensuring every detail is just right for the clients we serve. Construction projects are still underway as we take our time to create a space that truly reflects our mission.

Thank you for being such an important part of our community. Your ongoing support empowers us to serve countless individuals across Northeast Indiana.

We can’t wait to welcome you into this new space and continue this journey together!

-Paula Hughes-Schuh (CEO, YWCA Northeast Indiana)

Black History Month

During the month of February, YWCA celebrates Black History Month, a time to honor achievements by African Americans and recognize their central role in U.S. history. The National Museum of African American History and Culture highlights “Invisible Changemakers of Industry.” Check out their website to learn more and stay tuned for ways to get involved as we celebrate diversity and strive to eliminate racism year round!

Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

Here at YWCA Northeast Indiana, we are strong believers in the powerful role that awareness and education play in prevention. This is why we urge you to take a proactive stance during the month of February to engage and educate youth about what teen dating violence looks like and the dangers associated with it. Learn about TDVAM on our website and share our toolkit with your network!

Education Services

In honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, we are excited to highlight our Youth Education Services.

Our Community Educators seek to create fun and empowering programs that are relevant to the young people we work with. We go to schools, youth groups, and community centers to present on topics including healthy relationships and bullying.

  • In 2024, we presented to 3,482 youth
  • 97% of participants who completed surveys reported an increase in knowledge
