A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is an irrevocable trust that disperses income to the non-charitable beneficiaries then allocates the remainder of the donated assets to YWCA Northeast Indiana at the time of your death or at the end of a specific time period determined by you, whichever comes first. Annual payments range from a minimum of 5 percent to a maximum of 50 percent of the total assets in the trust. The income stream can last for a specific period of time (no more than 20 years) or for the life of the recipient.

A charitable lead trust (CLT) is like the reverse of a charitable remainder trust. This type of trust disperses income to YWCA Northeast Indiana, while the non-charitable beneficiaries receive the remainder of the donated assets upon your death or at the end of a specific term, similar to a CRT. CLTs generally benefit more from gift and estate tax benefits compared to CRTs.
