Digital Clothesline Project
The Clothesline Project honors both survivors and victims of intimate partner violence. Any person who has experienced such violence, at any time in their life, is encouraged to come forward and design a shirt. Victim’s families and friends are also invited to participate.
The process of designing a shirt gives each person a new voice with which to expose an often horrific and unspeakable experience that has altered the course of their life. Participating in this project provides a powerful step towards helping a survivor break through the silence that has surrounded their experience.
YWCA Northeast Indiana invites you to participate in our digital version of this project by downloading our t-shirt, designing it, and then sending it back to us to be posted on this page.
You can download the t-shirt here. T-shirts should be emailed to marketing@ywcanein.org.
Meaning of Color in the Clothesline Project
As a part of the official Clothesline Project, YWCA recognizes that the t-shirts are color coded to show the form of abuse and whether the victim survived the abuse they experienced. If you wish to follow this color-coding, we appreciate your vulnerability in sharing a piece of your experience. You are not required to follow these guidelines in order to participate.
- WHITE for those who died due to violence
- YELLOW for those who have been battered or assaulted
- RED, PINK, and ORANGE for those who have been raped or sexually assaulted
- BLUE and GREEN for those who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- PURPLE for those attacked for their sexual orientation
