YWCA Northeast Indiana has announced that it is concluding its Dress for Success program. The decision, reached after a review by YWCA’s board and a team from Leadership Fort Wayne’s Community Action Project, reflects a shift in focus to new areas where the organization can broaden its impact.

Launched in 2013, the Dress for Success program provided employment interview attire and career support to women facing economic challenges. However, with changes in the job market following the COVID-19 pandemic, YWCA noted a decrease in demand for traditional business attire and an increase in requests for clothing in sectors like hospitality and healthcare.

“We are incredibly proud of what Dress for Success accomplished over the years,” said YWCA CEO Paula Hughes-Schuh. “Thanks to the generosity of the community and the dedication of our team and program volunteers, we have been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many. While it is bittersweet to bring this program to a close, we are excited about the new opportunities ahead.”

To mark the program’s end, YWCA will host a community sale event on November 23, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1313 W. Washington Center Road. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, and other items will be available, with all proceeds supporting YWCA’s ongoing work.
