Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2024 event. With your help, we raised over $23,000 for racial justice! We could not have done it without our sponsors, donors, volunteers, community partners, and attendees! Building a more just and equitable community takes all of us!

The Race Against Racism 5K Walk/Run raises funds for YWCA’s racial justice efforts, which include community events and organizing, assessing community priority areas for racial justice, working with BIPOC-led groups, and developing educational content to share with Fort Wayne and the northeast Indiana community.

2025 Highlights

One Mile Fun Run: We’re excited to offer for the very first time a 1 mile walk/run option for participants!

2nd Annual Pup Run: Register your pup to conquer the course with you! Your pet is required to be on a leash at all times and you must clean up after your pet if they take a potty break during the event. All pups that cross the finish line will have a chance to win a special prize!

“Couch to 5K” Training Plan: All registrants will have access to a training plan (created by Lynn Marbach and endorsed by Three Rivers Running Company) to prepare for the event. The plan will include educational and engaging aspects about allyship.

Scenic Route: Discover the beauty of Purdue Fort Wayne in the spring as you run/walk through their picturesque campus, even crossing over the St. Joseph River! The course will be lined with local and national statistics surrounding racial justice.

Family-Friendly and Accessible: Bring the whole family for a day of fitness, fun, and allyship! The course is fully accessible for wheelchairs. Leashed pets and strollers are welcome at no additional cost. However, for just $10 you could enter your dog in the Pup Run!

Community Support: Every step you take supports a worthy cause, with proceeds from the event benefiting YWCA’s racial justice efforts. Building a more just and equitable community takes all of us, so YWCA wants to offer community members the opportunity to run the race against racism, together.

Music & Activities: Keep your energy high with live music and activities throughout the event!

Community Partners:
Local organizations will be joining us, so get excited to stop by their tables and learn about their work in our community.

Additional Racial Justice Offerings

Diversity Dialogues
To encourage awareness and acceptance of diversity, YWCA Northeast Indiana’s Level Up Council hosts Diversity Dialogues, where we bring in panelists and guest speakers to help lead the community in compelling conversations on interesting topics important to our community. We do our best to ensure a variety of perspectives and topics that provoke deep thought. Learn more by visiting our website.

Diversity 101 Training
YWCA Northeast Indiana offers a Diversity 101 program that looks at key terms, issues, implicit bias, and provides resources for diversity within your workplace. This interactive two hour training can be customized for your organization. Learn more about our trainings on our website.

“Are you an AllY?” Blog Series
“Ally” in recent years refers specifically to a person supporting a marginalized group. For this blog series, we capitalize the “Y” in “AllY” to emphasize the connection between YWCA Northeast Indiana’s dedication to eliminating racism and the allyship focus of the blog. Visit our website for monthly posts surrounding various aspects of being an ally.
